Nasri completes move to Arsenal

After a summer of speculation, Marseille midfielder Samir Nasri- who joined Marseille as a nine - year-old and made his ligue 1 debut back in 2004 at the age of 17- has finally put pen to paper and has signed for Arsenal on a "long term" contract. The clubs seemed to have struck a deal near the end of June, as news leaked out on the player's official website that the transfer had been made for a fee of around £12M.

Nasri can play on either wing or through the middle and has been compared with the likes of Zinedine Zidane - the former Real Madrid star. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said today "We are delighted to be signing Samir Nasri. "He is young, quick and technically an outstanding player". Nasri also complimented his new manager by saying "Arsene has a great reputation and he is one of the best managers in the world".

With Arsenal struggling to keep hold of Belurussian Alexander Hleb who has been linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium, and Flamini already departing to AC Milan on a free transfer at the start of the window, Nasri could be an adequate replacement for either but not both. If Alex Hleb chose to play elsewhere, Wenger would surely have to dulge back into the transfer market if Arsenal are to have the squad depth to substain a title challenge this time round.
